to Address the Workforce Shortage

Webinar presented by WV MGMA

in Collaboration with PA MGMA and VA MGMA

Date: Friday, September 22, 2023, 12:30 p.m. - 1:30 p.m.

Description:

Under-investment in primary care has been a chronic problem in America. Primary care is grappling with an acute workforce shortage, where not only primary care clinicians, but also clinical support staff, are in short supply. Discuss the primary care workforce shortage, its causes and its effects. Hear ideas from primary care organizations which will provide a resulting framework for examining the challenge; Learn real-life strategies and pilot programs implemented to help retain staff at practices and medical organizations and expand access to primary care in their region. Apply recommendations on how stakeholders can help ensure the future of primary care in America.

About the Speakers:

Erin Dickenson, VA Network Development Lead for Aledade

Erin helps educate independent primary care practices and community health centers on the work that Aledade is doing to drive better patient outcomes and increase their Value Based Care revenue potential. She joined Aledade in the spring of 2021 after spending 15 years in the EHR industry. Erin is passionate about helping practices and CHCs make the transition from traditional Fee for Service to Value Based Care.

Beau Boyd, Senior Physician Recruiter with Aledade

Beau was formerly a Senior Physician Recruiter and Recruiting Trainer for Merritt Hawkins, one of the largest retained physician and advanced practice firms in the nation. He has worked in sales and recruiting in permanent physician, advanced practice, and clinical leadership recruitment as well as locum tenens staffing. Prior to joining Aledade as a team member, Beau worked with the organization as a recruiter for one of Aledade’s partner practices, placing two primary care physicians in the north Florida markets.

Kevin Van Dyke, MPP

Kevin leads all accountable care organization (ACO) performance and operations across Aledade's 100 primary care practice, community health center, and rural health center partners in Virginia. This includes total cost of care programs with Medicare, Medicare Advantage, Commercial insurance, and Medicaid health plans. Aledade's Virginia ACOs have generated tens of millions of dollars in shared savings by improving patient care quality and reducing unnecessary health care costs.
